It’s almost that time again! Summer is coming to a close and fall is right around the corner.
I’m so excited for autumn fashion, falling leaves, and cooler weather, but we’ve still got a few weeks of hot weather left in NJ.
That’s why I love having versatile pieces in my closet that can be styled for different seasons. In this post I’m going to share four different pieces and how I style each for both summer and fall weather.
These pieces were gifted to me from Revolve! If you’d like to check any of them out for yourself, click the images or underlined text for affiliate links.
Let’s dive in.
I love a good long-sleeved top! This one has a plunging neckline and surplice detail in the front. It also has cinch tie details on both sleeves and both sides of the waist.
This top works great for the warm weather because it’s cropped, it’s lightweight, and it definitely keeps your neck and chest cool, as well.
Anything high-waisted would work with the cropped length of the top; I have it paired with white distressed mom shorts.
To complete this casual look, I’m also wearing rock stud flat sandals, a leopard print Yankee hat, and a Balenciaga bag.
Since this is a long-sleeved top, it’s super easy to make the transition into a fall outfit.
This could also be worn with jeans or other bottoms that keep you warm, but I love a good suede skirt for the fall.
I have the top tucked into the skirt here, but you could certainly wear it pulled out, depending on what you like and which type of bottom you’re wearing it with.
I swapped out my sandals for some classic black booties here, and kept the same purse for this look.
I used to think sweaters could only be worn in the late fall and winter, but I’ve certainly changed my mind about that in recent years.
Lightweight sweaters are such a versatile clothing item, and this one seems like it was made for the summer-to-fall transition.
The shoulder cutouts and open front make this a cooler item to wear and the material is thin enough for that, too.
Since it’s slightly cropped, my summer look also includes some high-waisted black shorts and fun, heeled sandals. I pulled everything together with a matching Burberry canvas bag.
You can easily switch this into a fall look by swapping out the shorts for some long pants. I went with high-waisted dark wash jeans for this but was also contemplating some black jeans.
I also replaced the open-toed shoes with some closed ones. These booties have a cute chain detail that feels very “fall-ish” to me.
I kept the same bag because I think the red also goes well with the fall season. And, voila! Same top, new outfit.
In true LBD fashion, this one doesn’t need much else to create a sexy and stylish look. I love the asymmetrical bottom of this dress, as well as the high neckline and body-hugging fit.
For summer nights, I’d brighten up this look with some of color. For shoes, I chose yellow and white striped wedges that I just got recently—they”re super cute and pretty comfy to walk (or dance) in.
I also added my lilac Versace Medusa purse. This is a new one that I’m carrying every chance I get, and is also a very trendy color for this current season.
Because this dress is a knockout on its own, you could throw on some booties or closed-toe heels and call it a day for a fall style. But, there are also a lot of other possibilities.
I personally love leather and faux leather jackets; I have them in a lot of different colors and styles. So, whenever I have the opportunity to pair an edgy jacket with a sexy dress, I go for it.
This black dress would match with almost any color jacket, but I love the olive green one for the fall. I also traded my sandals for some sleek black pumps for this outfit.
As usual, I saved my favorite piece for last! I am in love with this cutout dress that has a black base and red rose pattern.
This is definitely a summer fit, with the spaghetti straps, short skirt, and bit of skin showing in the middle.
I actually wore this with some heels when we went to Jamaica a couple of weeks ago and it was a great vacation dress.
For this look, I have some simple black heels and one of my favorite black purses.
This is another one that would look great with a leather jacket thrown on top of it, but that’s certainly not your only option when it comes to fall layering.
Cardigans and sweaters go great with dresses for the fall, but I wanted something a little more chic for this look. So, I chose my Karl Lagerfield tweed and leather jacket.
I also switched from heeled sandals to heeled combat boots—I absolutely love combat boots for the cooler months, and I love how they add a bit of edge to this look.
