I hope everyone has been enjoying December so far. December is one of my favorite months; I just love decorating the house, watching Christmas movies, listening to joyous music, and getting dressed up in festive outfits!
Of course, this December will be different from what most of us are used to. My family is going to skip our usual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day parties, and there won’t be any work parties for me or Joe this year.
We’ll still be celebrating with immediate family, of course, and we also have some other fun occasions like taking our first Christmas Card picture and virtual get-togethers with loved ones.
So, while I might not have a formal dinner at the Ritz-Carlton or a large family gathering to go to, I’ve still got plenty of reasons to put together cute holiday looks. And hopefully you do, too!
If you do need something to wear this holiday season, I’ve for sure got you covered with a variety of different outfits. Whether you’re getting glammed up or staying in PJs, check out my holiday outfit inspiration below!
As usual, everything is linked and shoppable, click on the image itself or the larger, underlined title to open the retail website.
You can’t go wrong with a red dress for the holidays! This one is the perfect combination of pretty and comfortable.
The fitted sweater material is super flattering, especially in your curvy areas, and the tie waist does a nice job of bringing it all together.
It’s got a nice V-neckline and I love the long sleeves, since it’s usually very cold in NJ in December.
This dress is from Liam & Co. and is on sale today only (12/7) for 40% off with code DRESSEDUP. If you miss the sale, you can use my code LAURA20 any time for 20% off full-price purchases.
If you want something a little fancier – and sexier, velvet is always a great option for the winter.
This dress is form-fitting and flattering, and it has a snap closure at the neckline, so you can open that for even more cleavage if that’s the holiday vibe you want.
The fabric is gathered to one side of the skirt, which creates a pretty design and also makes your tummy area look more flat.
This one is also long sleeves, so it still gives a wintery feel while allowing you to show off those legs.
If you want to dress comfortably but also look a bit dressed up, the skirt and sweater combo is a great go-to!
You can achieve this look with any long skirt and cropped sweater; cropped sweaters work best so that they show off the skirt and if you want to tuck the sweater in, a cropped one won’t look as baggy under the skirt.
I chose a red, silky skirt here because I like to have at least one red or green item in my holiday looks.
I felt that the white sweater was the perfect addition here. Who doesn’t love a Santa-themed outfit?
If you’re just looking for something semi-casual to wear around the living room this year, look no further!
Dark blue jeans go great with almost everything; I dressed up the look with a velvet bodysuit (currently on sale under $25) and an Amazon belt.
The burgundy OTK boots also add some extra flair and give a nod to the holiday season with their color.
This look can be achieved with some dark jeans, a nice top, and some cute shoes to pull it together.
Here’s another option with jeans, and this one is more of a throw-on-and-go outfit.
Basic black jeans and a black shoe (Nine West booties shown here), plus a fun sweater to pretty things up.
I love this pearl-embellished sweater, and of course the red color had me thinking holiday the moment I saw it. The pearls make it a little more dressy, in my opinion, which is perfect for the holidays.
You also don’t need to go crazy with accessories on this one since the sweater is a statement piece itself!
Another great outfit that requires little effort is this a simple dress and booties combo.
I purchased this green lace dress last year, but wore it this year for our Christmas Card photos. The fit and flare style on the skirt is so flattering and the lace detailing all over really dresses it up.
You don’t need to add much to this outfit for it to stand out, so I added a simple shoe and some diamond stud earrings.
This dress is no longer available in green, but I found the black and red versions on sale and linked them above.
I’m making an exception to having red/green in every outfit just this once, and can you really blame me?
This purple lace dress is stunning! Purple is my favorite color, and also the main color of Advent, so it fits in with the Christmas season.
This is another pretty effortless look, you just need a pretty, lacy dress and some shoes/jewelry.
This particular dress is under $50 and also comes in white, if white during the holidays is your thing, or if any future brides are looking for a great short dress!
This is another in-between look; the suede skirt and heels dress it up, but this white long sleeve shirt is one that I frequently wear with sweatpants. So, you really can mix and match the items in your closet to make so many different looks.
This skirt was super popular over the summer but also looks great in the winter (I have the color French Taupe). Since it draws attention itself, I kept the top simple.
I, of course, added the heels for a little pop of holiday red.
So, the above outfits are gorgeous but I know some of you won’t be getting out of pajamas this holiday season, so here’s a great comfy look.
No lie, this lounge set is one of the most comfortable things I’ve ever put on my body. It feels like you’re being wrapped in a cloud and I definitely do not hate the idea of cuddling up by the tree on Christmas morning in max amounts of comfort.
The slippers are also super cozy and would make a great gift (to someone else or yourself!) at just under $20.
Last, but definitely not least, is this amazing midi dress that I was planning to wear to my husband’s work Christmas party this year.
The cowl neck is sexy without being too low or revealing, and the silky material hugs your body in all the right places while still offering some extra room in the tummy area.
This dress is perfect for a formal holiday, holiday photos, a party, or even attending a wedding!
You don’t need to add much to a dress like this, either; a pair of simple black heels will do nicely.
