5 Underrated Romantic Movies to Watch on Valentine’s Day

Hi all,

I personally watch the movie Valentine’s Day on February 14 every year because I saw it on that day in theaters years ago.
Plus I just get happy every time I watch it. (Also, I love Taylor Swift.)

But if you’re staying in this year and looking for something to watch, something other than the same top titles that appear on every Valentine’s Day movie list, you should check out one of the below!

These are movies that represent love in completely different ways but that also, in my opinion, very accurately depict love

All of these movies touched my heart in one way or another and if you haven’t seen them, I would definitely recommend watching them at some point!

1. Collateral Beauty

A bit Christmas-y, but this movie really explores the core of love and what it means.

The movie deals with different types of love too, including the strong relationship between a parent and child.

I personally believe that Valentine’s Day is about celebrating all of the people who fill your heart with love, even those relationships that aren’t romantic, so I love this movie.

Plus, there’s just something about pretending it’s Christmas time in the middle of February that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

2. The Adjustment Bureau

It’s exciting and has plenty of action with a subtle romantic story.

If your SO isn’t really into romantic comedies, this is the perfect compromise.

But what is just below the surface as a subplot is actually one of my favorite, and one of the most romantic, love stories I’ve seen in a movie.

3. Midnight in Paris

I instantly fell in love with this movie when I saw it. If you don’t know what it’s about, don’t look it up!

The trailers leading up to its release didn’t reveal what actually happens to Owen Wilson when he goes out wandering the streets of Paris in the middle of the night, and being surprised by the plot made the movie even more enjoyable.

This movie is light, funny, and a beautiful little story that’s ultimately about finding the right kind of love.

4. About Time

Okay, I can’t write this article without including at least one typical chick flick.

This is your usual boy-meets-girl-and-they-fall-madly-in-love story, but it also takes you deep inside what it means to really love and to live in general.

Warning: this is a tear-jerker, but every time I finish this movie it leaves me with such a strong feeling of hope, happiness, and inspiration.

5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This is a straight-up weird movie. But, hey, I am a weird girl.

And Jim Carrey was always one of my absolute favorites.

This movie is about trying to erase a love that once filled your entire life, because it’s just too painful to live in the world that exists after love ends.

Beneath all of its quirkiness and psychological tricks, this movie is about fate.

Have you watched any of the above and if so, what do you think of them?

If you’re planning to watch them, definitely let me know what you think in the comments below!

I hope your week and the rest of your February is filled with love, whatever that means for you. 🙂

See you next time! <3
